A Liga and B Liga are two amateur football championships run by Football Budapest. The League began in March of 2001, with the then 4 team competition being called World Cup Magyarország. Original founders of the league were Szigeti Source and MBIS (both Budapest), SCI (Tatabánya) and SCA (Nagykáta).
The league expanded to 8 teams in Spring 2003, and then two divisions in Spring 2006, followed by the addition of the Duncan Shiels Vándorkupa in the autumn of 2006, a knockout cup competition named in rememberance of the one-time player of Szigeti Source, one of the league's founding clubs.
The league currently runs from September until June each season, taking a summer break in July and August. The growing reputation of the league has seen it reported on local TV as well as with weekly reports published in the now defunct Budapest Sun and Budapest Funzine. The league has seen many nations involved. Players from all over the world, both currently and in the past have played in the tournament. The list below is far from comprehensive but gives an idea of the cosmopolitan flavour of the league.
