Did you know? Postás SE was formed in 1899, and was a founder-member of the MLSZ (Hungarian FA) in 1901. The club won the Hungarian second division in 1902, and in 1905, their third season in top flight, they won the league title unbeaten in fourteen matches ahead of other such luminaries as FTC (Ferencváros), MTK, and UTE (Újpest). The joy was short-lived however, as it transpired that in a 7-0 win over Fõvárosi TC the club had offered two opposition players a job with the post office (the game in Hungary only went professional in 1926).  The bribery scandal, the first of its kind in Hungary, led to six months of uncertainty before the club were stripped of the title, the game in question being scratched from the final table and never being replayed, Ferencváros being awarded the championship, and Postás withdrawing from the league in protest. The club did appear in the top flight again in 1949 and 1950, but was relegated after two seasons. It is unknown where Postás' top-flight matches were played, although it is certain that it wasn't at the Rona utca complex. The multi sports club itself no longer has a football team, and is fighting for its very existence following the withdrawal of long-time backers Magyar Posta, Matáv, and Antenna Hungária.

Directions: By Car: Üllõi út to Népliget, then cut through the park
By Public Transport: Take the blue metro to the Népliget stop, then walk through the park (ten minute walk).

Did you know? The Építõk stadion was built in 1936 and was the home ground of Hungarian giants Vasas SC in the 1950s - a decade in which they won the Hungarian title, and reached the semi-finals of the European Cup in 1958, being knocked out by eventual winners Real Madrid - before they found a permanent home in Angyalföld. The record attendance at Építõk meanwhile is some 25,000, present on 25 March 1953 to see army club Budapest Honvéd rout Budapest Kinizsi (as Ferencvárosi TC were forcibly renamed under the Stalinist regime of Mátyás Rákosi) by 5 goals to 1. Present for Honvéd that day were Aranycsapat members Gyula Grosics, Gyula Lóránt, József Bozsik, László Budai, Sándor Kocsis, Ferenc Puskás and Zoltán Czibor, whilst Kinizsi boasted internationalists Ferenc Rudas, Jenõ Dalnoki, Sándor Mátrai and Máté Fenyvesi in their side. Puskás scored 4, Kocsis 1, and Fenyvesi replied for Kinizsi. Additionally, prior to Hungary's famous 6-3 win over England at Wembley on 25 November 1953, the Hungarians, not accustomed to a pitch as large as Wembley's, practiced by increasing the size of their Budapest training pitch to match the measurements of the field at the famous English ground. The Budapest pitch in question? Építõk. Since those heady days the stadium has fallen into decline, its crumbing terraces complemented by an art-deco grandstand that has seen better days.
